Programs

CanSkate

 

For ages 4+ to learn the basics of skating for any ice sport in a fun, engaging environment. 

The program consists of two 45 minute classes each week that include a dynamic choreographed warm up, rotating lesson stations, a group activity, and a cool down. Skaters are grouped by ability and are taught on Skate Canada's fundamental areas of Balance, Control & Agility.

Throughout the year, skaters can earn badges and ribbons for their skill development, and will also get to participate in numerous theme days.

This program is great to gain confidence on skates, and for those who are hoping to pursue hockey, figure skating, or ringette in the future.

Equipment required:   

  • Skates (hockey or figure)
  • CSA Approved Helmet
  • Warm Athletic Attire (no bulky snowsuits or jeans)

Mondays          6:15 - 7:00 PM On Ice
Wednesdays    6:15 - 7:00 PM On Ice

Junior StarSkate

 

For skaters working on Stage 5/6 CanSkate and Star 1 to learn and develop figure skating skills!

This program teaches on all the disciplines of figure skating: freeskate, ice dance, skating skills, synchronized skating, and artistic! Training will also include an off-ice class every week to develop the skater's core strength, flexibility, balance, posture, agility, and endurance.

Skaters will receive lessons in large and small group formats, and will also get time to practice independently or take private lessons with a coach.

Private lessons are optional. These are scheduled directly with the coach and paid separately from the registration fee. 

Throughout the year, skaters can participate in club theme days and Skate Canada Assessments and Competitions.

Equipment required:

  • Figure skates
  • Plastic skate guards
  • Warm Athletic Attire (no bulky clothes or jeans)
  • CSA Approved Helmet for those still working on Stage 5 CanSkate
  • Water bottle
  • Running shoes for off-ice training

Senior StarSkate

 

For Star 2+ skaters to further develop their figure skating skills.
